Markings: The left side of the barrel/slide is marked “TDE”, and “Auto Mag / .44 AMP Model 180 / El Monte, Calif. / Patented”, the right side is marked “Made in U.S.A.” The serial number is found on the bottom of the grip frame. The other barrel is marked “TDE”, and “Auto Mag / .357 AMP Model 160 / El Monte, Calif. / Patented”, the right side is marked “Made in U.S.A.”

Sights / Optics: The front sight is a blade on a ramp on a full length rib. The rear sight is windage and elevation adjustable. In addition there is a Leupold M8-2X scope mounted on Redfield rings and mounts. The scope optics are clear with duplex crosshairs. The external scope has scratches and some finish loss at the rings.
Stock Configuration & Condition: The grips are checkered plastic. Both grips show cracks along their bottom edge at the lower grip screws. There are other minor scattered scratches. The grips rate in about Good overall condition.

Bore Condition: The bore is bright and the rifling is sharp and deep. There is fouling and perhaps some minor erosion in the bore.
Overall Condition: This pistol retains about 90% of its metal finish. There are few marks of any kind in the stainless “upper”, but there are some minor surface scratches on the matte lower at the rails. The Redfield mount has scratches, dings, and surface finish loss, none major. The screw heads are sharp. The markings are clear. Overall, this pistol rates in about Fine condition.
Mechanics: The action functions correctly. We did not fire this handgun. The slide release is very difficult to operate.
Box, Paperwork & Accessories: One .44 AMP magazine and one .357 AMP magazine are provided. A Leupold scope is provided and mounted to the .44 AMP barrel. The .357 AMP Model 160 barrel is also included with factory target sights installed.
Our Assessment: Here is a fast shooting handful. A semi-automatic .44 Auto Mag pistol that shoots the same projectile as the .44 magnum. This pistol with a scope will makes a potent field hunter. We smell bacon! This pistol can be found on page 17 of the Curio and Relic list. Lets not forget the awesome scope and additional barrel. This would make a great addition to anyone’s safe.
